“No. 4”: 1397681 SSK – August 22nd 1992

Sold.

This is a board I replaced the rivets on, thoroughly cleaned, and reassembled early in 2013. It then sat for about a year after I finished it because it didn’t feel exactly right.  Then the other day I got around to tearing it back down and bringing it up to my current standards.

I replaced the barrel panel with one of same color and stampings. The original barrel panel worked just fine… but it did have some cracks and snaps along the flex channels. I decided to swap it for a good one and drill the holes with my press.

Keys feel strong and confident with a distinguished click-clack.

82G2383 – September 27th, 1994

Sold.

This board was in rather good shape to begin with. I set out with the goal of making the panel a little more aesthetically pleasing so I experimented with leaving a super thin layer of plastic by only drilling to a certain point. A bit of a pain to do, but it looks nice. I’m sure I’ll do it again in the future.

Also… I have a little habit where I’ll sometimes play a song on repeat while I’m doing something until I finish. Well, the song for reconditioning this board was Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani… I’m not sure why…
